now starting a tumblr page for updates on the Japanese music group galaxias! this is an unofficial page, but hope to bring lots of awesome news in english about galaxias! ;)
I’m bad at keeping up to date with galaxias! news so GO follow this blog if you love galaxias! (｡･ᴗ･｡)
It seems that there are three prominent producers in the Vocaloid community, the three that I talked about for the last few weeks: wowaka, hachi and DECO*27.
All three are emerging artists who are starting to leave a mark beyond the Vocaloid fandom. They are probably the most talked-about artists among Western fans. All have been hired to write for multiple non-Vocaloid groups, including for anime producers and J-pop stars. They are prominent in Vocaloid rankings, almost always hitting the tops of the charts when a new song is released. All have consistent qualities and consistent quality.
Of course, DECO*27 is on a different “plane” of the Vocaloid culture than hachi and wowaka; the latter two producers are part of the same independent Vocaloid label, while DECO*27 has been branching out into more mainstream music scene. Still, all three are transitioning from a dependence on posting videos online, and they can simply release an album, and guaranteed, the fans will make the album sell out from stores in days.
Still, it’s hard to forget the other prominent producers that are in the fandom. The first Hatsune Miku user to gain attention, OTOMANIA, simply gained so from making a viral video; the first producer to make Miku appear as a serious pop star has to be ryo, who I’ll cover next week, and whose presence and influence still linger. There are so many more “firsts,” hits and events that I can talk about, but I could go on for ages.
I’m sure that in two years, there will be another producer that will gain just as much momentum as ryo did years ago and DECO*27 has now. But for now, hachi, wowaka and DECO*27 are the artists who stand out and influence the community for the better.
Also, starting now, I can take suggestions, since I chose the Big Three to give a base on which I can post the Producer Picks of the Week. Just drop something in my ask box, I suppose.

The new unit formed with Kou Shibasaki, DECO*27, and TeddyLoid – galaxias! – will drop their debut album on November 23. Track list below and jacket covers sport the familiar mascot seen on their websites and twitter account – “guarantee child.”
The galaxias! website also has samples of first 4 tracks for your listening. The title track “galaxias” is an up-beat pop tune with nice vocals by Shibasaki. The unit’s self-named first album’s new songs are part of tour currently being held Ko Shibasaki “CIRCLE & CYCLE.”
